Sylvester Willis Obituary
Graveside services for Sylvester Willis were held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2016 in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Reverend James Vandergriff officiated under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Sylvester, 84, of Oakdale entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Oakdale. He was born May 23, 1932 in Oakdale to the union of Davide Willis and Olive Odom Willis. He was an automobile mechanic, owner and operator of Sylvester's Salvage Yard. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Roselene Willis; four brothers, Speedia King Willis, Delbert Roy Willis, James Willis and Julius Willis; three sisters, Judith Lynn Perkins, Mary Jane Willis and Virginia Hess.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his daughter, Cheryl Willis Young and husband Ralph of Oakdale; two granddaughters, Laken Bernard and husband Taylor of Homer and Aspen Young of Oakdale; two great grandsons, Landry and Benjamin Bernard of Homer four brothers, O. K. Willis (Kim) and John Lewis Willis (Judie) all of Oakdale, Billy Wayne Willis of Glenmora and Cecil Mason Willis of West Monroe; five sisters, Lillian Rhodes of Oakdale, Claudia Monk of Lake Charles, Bernice Davis (Joe) of New Caney, Texas, Larcenia Willis (Ray) of Elizabeth and Doris Willis Jones of Mansfield, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers were Ervin Willis, Sr., Trace Willis, John Lewis Willis, Jr., Mason Willis, Sam Willis and Timothy Monk.
