Eric Trygg Obituary

Eric Charles Trygg

February 2, 1948 – February 20, 2026

Eric was born in Saint Louis, Missouri and was the oldest of 4 children, the rest being girls. Eric's favorite sister was Lori Pecolar who lives in Santa Ana, CA and whom the family is in close contact with to this day. Eric spent many years in Southern California growing up, attending school and working. He received a BA degree from California State University while working full time at Disneyland and was proud that he earned his degree on his own. Eric lived in South America for two years as a teenager while his father worked on a water sanitation project there for President Kennedy and looked back at that time with fondness. Once home, Eric married Linda DeGroff and they had two children they named Julie and Andrew.

The family moved to Nevada County when Andrew, the younger of the children, was just a baby and Eric worked in heavy machinery sales for more than 40 years. He specialized in finding huge parts for his clients and dealt with companies such as Catepillar, John Deere, Komatsu and Case and he gained respect from many of them over the years. His work often took him to far off locations and being such a social person, he loved the interactions with clients.

Eric and Mary Ann married in 1996. Mary Ann already had two children, Joann and Michael, at the time.

Eric has been active in local groups such as Master Gardeners, Nevada County Friends of the Libraries, Rotary and the Sacramento Cactus and Succulent Society while taking part in raising 6 dogs for Guide Dogs for the Blind as a family project.

Eric's spirit and drive will be missed by many in that he became involved in several organizations in which he excelled and where others appreciated him.

Yesterday

Eric was one of my favorite cardiac rehab clients. He was always in a good mood and often made himself the butt of the jokes to make other people happy. You knew you were going to laugh when Eric Trygg was in the room.

Wr did memory shares last night at the Nevada County Gem and Mineral meeting. Eric had contributed so much over the years that it was very hard to fully believe he had died. His space and spirit will be missed.

So sorry to hear this! Eric and Mary Ann became friends through Guide Dogs. Our second puppy, Peru, was a sister to their puppy Peanut. Both were drop outs who became cherished family pets to our families. And as a long-time library volunteer, I would run into Eric frequently. A delightful man who loved to chat. He will be missed.
