Hector Prieto Obituary

HECTOR ROJAS PRIETO

July 25, 1953 to Sepember 18th 2023

Hector Prieto was born in Mexico City to Antonio Prieto and Avalia Rojas Prieto.

Avalia moved to California with her four little boys in 1961. Hector was proud of his mother who marched with Cesar Chavez. Hector helped his mom care for his younger siblings by then there were five. In his teen years he had taken up surf boarding. Hector loved the beach. In his early twenties He moved to Seatle Washington and worked at an I Hop where he met Debrah Evans. The couple moved back to her hometown of Grass Valley California. Around 1978 They were married and had 3 children. Hector worked as a custodial worker at Lyman Gillmore grade school. In 1988, he and Debbie were divorced. Hector stayed in Grass Valley to be close to his Children. He worked in construction for a few years and then went to Tony and Guy Beauty school to become a hair stylist. Hector worked for Stray Cuts in Nevada City at which time he met Mary Holt. Hector and Mary had a son in 1999. Two years later Hector moved to Puerto Vallarta Mexico. He visited his sisters family in Guadalajara Mexico. He remained in Puerto Vallarta for 3 years and then returned to Grass Valley and lived with his son Antonio. Eventually, Hector moved to Yuba City California. He was hired at a company called Tuff Grass turf company. Hector worked there for a few years and lived with his oldest son Nicolas. He helped take care of his grandchildren at that time. In 2014 Hector moved up to Pike City to help get his youngest son, Teadoro to school and help Mary Holt with maintaining her property.

On January 16th of 2019 Hector suffered a massive stroke. His health was greatly diminished. There were times he was in pain, but he never complained. He survived 4 and a half more years. Sadly, Hector succumbed to his illness and passed away on September 18th, 2023 at 7:05 AM. He was 70 years old.

Hector was a kind and gentle man. He had a great sense of humor. He was always happy to help anybody who needed it. He was a problem solver. Hector loved all of his children and his entire family very much. He is greatly missed by all who loved him.

Hector is survived by his dear friend and partner, Mary Holt and their son Teadoro J. Holt, his Children, Nicolas and (Deanna) Prieto, Carlie and (Darold) Eddie, and his son Antonio Prieto. Hector is also survived by his seven beautiful grandchildren.

Hector is proceeded in death by his parents and oldest brother Ricardo R. Prieto. He is also survived by his sister in-law Rosalina Prieto, his brothers Enrique Prieto and Marco and (Araceli) Prieto and his sister Carlotta Prieto Rojas. Hector is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.

An outdoor gathering will be on November 4, 2023 at 3:00 PM at the covered bridge in Bridge Port. Family and friends are welcome.
