John Shadburne Obituary

JOHN L. SHADBURNE

December 4, 1942 to April 2, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved father. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Berkeley, California. At the age of 3, he moved to Nevada County with his parents William R. and Esther Shadburne where he was a lifelong resident. He attended Mount Saint Marys and graduated from Nevada Union High school in 1960.

After graduating, he went to work in the woods where he spent the majority of his career in the timber industry as a lumberjack and in forest management. Later in his career, he switched to management in the aggregate industry.

He believed Nevada County and the Sierra Nevadas was Gods country. He split his time between home and the Pacific Northwest and enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, taking walks, traveling, cycling - completing the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic, playing golf in his annual

tournaments with lifelong friends, and telling stories of life and past adventures and there were many!

John was a dedicated, proud, and loving father, grandfather, and friend. He was a genuine, hardworking, honest, sometimes ornery, kind hearted, loving, and unwavering human that will be greatly missed.

He was thankful and grateful for the experiences, opportunities, adventures, and blessed life he lived.

John is preceded in death by his parents and sister, and his longtime girlfriend Lynda Schiffner.

He is survived by his children John W (Kelly) Shadburne, Erik (Rachel) Shadburne, and Adriane

(Bryan) Taylor, his seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held on

To the family of John Shadburne ! I am sorry for the loss of John . He used to hang out a lot with my dad Art ( stepdad Art Piver ). John always treated me good whenever I saw him when I was a kid or later when I got older and ran into him and my dad in one of the local pubs. I have nothing but good memories of him , and I always enjoyed his company . He also said what he believed and I appreciated that. My condolences . Kelly R Sanders

What a lovely written tribute. The loss of a parent is such a difficult, heart-wrenching experience and Danny and I are so saddened that y´all are having to endure this; but we also know your family will navigate your way through this with deep reflection, humor, and grace. Danny has so many great memories with your dad (and I have my own, though not as many) and the way he tolerated so many of us kids coming and going at his perfectly spotless home. We love you all and pray you feel God´s comfort until you see your dad again.

With Love,
Danny and Sadina Renfrow
