Kimberlea Brooks Obituary

Kimberlea Elaine Brooks

April 1, 1956 – August 16, 2025

On August 16th our beloved mother began her journey at the age of 69 to be with her mother Bettierose, sister Melodea, father Frank, and her ancestors. Mom fought a hard battle with COPD with strength and resilience. Kimberlea was born in Redwood City, California and was a member of the Tsi Akim Maidu tribe. Mom was a talented fabric artist and she made beautiful crochet blankets and amazing embroidered blankets as well.

She is survived by her daughters, Chonea and Shanon, her sons Christopher and Seth, grandchildren Gavin, Adrian, Bailey, Keiley, Tristan, and Ela-Swiftfeather as well as great-grandchild Kaden. She is also survived by her niece, Daisy and nephew Justen. Mom will be returning home through the Feather River canyon to be at rest next to her mother in Plumas County.

Join us in remembrance of our mother on Saturday, September 13th from 11:30-2.30 at Pata Panaka Village, 16200 Lake Vera-Purdon Road, Nevada City, CA, 95959. Please bring your favorite dish to share and fond memories and stories along with an extra chair. This is an alcohol and drug free event. The family would like to give special thanks to Chapa De Indian Health for years of support and services as well as Foothills Compassionate Care.

My mom and I met kimmie as we called her when she was my mom's roommate at Spring Hill Manor... I had several great talks with kimmie about the Indian heritage as I told her my husband is American indian....kimmie was so proud to be American Indian as she told us...My heart was broken to hear of her passing....Kimmie was a beautiful lady with a beautiful soul...Rest in peace friend...we will miss you sweet friend . My heart/sympathy extend to Shannan, her Sister and the rest of the family. The waters of the Feather River and tributaries are powerful medicine of the Maidu. There cannot be a better place for one to continue their journey.
With love and respect,
Chris.

I do not know the family; however the way that the obit is written and the way that your mom's spirituality was represented had me feeling as though I knew her.
So the journey up the canyon is in process and she loves flying. Blessings to you and your mom as she begins the journey home and prepares for her birth into the heavens.
