Maria Dicintio Obituary

Maria Dicintio

April 17, 1964 – September 4, 2025

With profound sorrow, we say farewell to a radiant spirit, Maria Dicintio, who left this world far too soon after facing ovarian cancer with strength and courage.

As a beloved NCSA teacher, she inspired countless students with her generosity, creativity, and infectious enthusiasm for nature, art, and dance. She will be remembered for modeling kindness and compassion for her students.

Maria grew up dancing and toured with professional dance companies before becoming a teacher. She was a cherished member of local dance groups - The Movement Alliance, Nevada County Dance Collective, Patricia Reedy Dancers, and Nevada County Jazzercise. Maria radiated passion and artistry as a dancer and was respected as a skillful choreographer.

She had a deep commitment to her community. Maria volunteered her time and talents to numerous organizations, including Hospitality House, The Center for the Arts, Sierra Fiddle Camp, the Food Bank, and more, touching lives and fostering a sense of belonging.

If you would honor Maria, her family would like you to consider donations to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.

We invite you to join us at a celebration of Maria's life to be held at the Nevada City Odd Fellows Hall on Sunday, September 21st from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.

My sincere condolences to Maria's family. I never met her but know her mother, Fran, and the loss of her daughter is devastating. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for strength to all. Love from Susan Porter (National Button Society member)
