Mary Capper Obituary
May 12, 2025
Mary Ellen Capper, age 86, of Grass Valley, CA, passed away on May 12, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend. Mary Ellen (McFadden) Capper is survived by daughter Laura (David Blum), son James Capper, daughter Elizabeth Cavanaugh, grandchildren, Jaclyn Bouey, Jessica (Kyle Turner), Jared Capper, Austin Capper, Christopher Whitehead, Shane Cavanaugh (Sarah), Cole Cavanaugh, and a great grandchild Jane Bouey. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and four of her siblings.
Mary proudly served as a bookkeeper/secretary for the Sacramento Metro Fire District.
In her free time, Mary Ellen enjoyed playing golf, bridge, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Grass Valley.
A funeral service will be held at Calvary Cemetery and Funeral Center, 7100 Verner Ave., Citrus Heights, CA, on Thursday, June 19 at 11:00 a.m., followed by internment at Calvary Cemetery at Noon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Mary Ellen Capper.

I love you Mary Ellen...something our family doesn't express that often in words, more so in action. Your hosting of Easter and Christmas gatherings has meant so much to me and my kids. It took a lot of effort and mostly love. Thank you for the love you showed to all of us. I have, and will always, miss you sis.

Boy, did we have an amazing childhood! All those memories from Germany are still with me. And, those times singing Irish songs around the Providence Way kitchen table are still with me. Here's to us all, and especially to you. Thanks for being a fine sister. Thanks for being so good to our family ( all those holiday dinners!). We will be thinking of you.
