Nancy Chittenden Obituary

On Feb. 8, 2023, Nancy Ann Chittenden passed away peacefully at age 94. Nancy was born in Oakland, California on Jan. 15, 1929 to Nettie Fake Travis and Keith Travis. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 1951, majoring in Public Health. Nancy married Glen Alan Chittenden in 1954. They moved to Fremont, Michigan in 1965, where Nancy worked as a children's librarian and raised their four children.

Nancy enjoyed tennis, golf and especially hiking with friends in the Sierra Nevadas. Her last hike was a six-miler at age 89 with her daughters, Sue and Janet. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Glen. She is survived by her four children, Lynn Hohler (Nick), Sue Wotring (Bruce), Janet Copenhaver and Brian Chittenden (Tracey), 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The funeral service will take place at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 235 S. Church Street in Grass Valley on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1pm

The Sisters of Alpha Xi Delta Sacramento Alumnae Association send our condolences. Nancy was in the Omicron chapter at U.C. Berkeley. A notice has been sent to fraternity headquarters (alphaxidelta.org) to note her passing on to our chapter eternal.
