Randy Blakemore Obituary

Randy Blakemore

August 16, 1953 – July 26, 2025

Randy Blakemore, 71, of Grass Valley, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, surrounded by family. Born in Berkeley, Ca, to Edward and Arla Blakemore, Randy grew up in Sacramento and attended high school in Davis, where he was a member of the dive team.

An adventurer and outdoorsman, Randy worked as a ski instructor in Tahoe, climbed Mount Shasta, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and water skiing. After attending College, he moved to Grass Valley to manage the family business, Agate Sales Lumber Company, and later co-founded Alpine Portable Storage Containers.

Randy was a founding charter member of both the 49er Rotary Club and South County Rotary Club, contributing countless volunteer hours alongside his wife, Debbe, with whom he received Paul Harris Fellow recognition. A passionate collector of historic mining equipment and antique porcelain signs, he was also well-known for his eager bidding at auctions across the region.

Randy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbe; son Blake (Kori); daughter Ashley (Nick); granddaughters Camdyn, Briar, and Hayden; brothers Rick (Mary) and Brad (Shelley).

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 3:00-6:30 p.m. at Castello Vista Estate, 15231 McCourtney Rd, Grass Valley, CA 95949. There will be a sunset salute to honor him, family and friends of all ages are welcome.
