Angela Lees Obituary

Colonial Heights, VA -

Angela Mary (Butler) Lees died early on the morning of 15 October, 2025 at her most recent residence, Dunlop House, in Colonial Heights, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, COL (Ret) Robert E. Lees. Angela, born 2 April, 1932 to the late Richard and (Catherine) Evelyn (McWeeney) Butler, was 93 years of age.

Angela lived an exceptional life, one far from the norm for a young lady coming of age in the 1950s. She studied to be a nurse, but traded those plans to wed a Soldier. Her marriage to "Bob" Lees led her to travels, both around the globe, and across much of the United States. She lived several years in Europe; lived several more in South Korea; drove from AL to AK (by way of RI) when the Alaska Highway was still mostly gravel; lived through hurricanes, earthquakes and floods; lived as a single Mom when Bob was deployed to Korea and again when deployed to Viet Nam, and was very happy to return to Rhode Island after Bob died.

Angela is survived by her children and grandchildren.

If you wish to remember Angela by way of donation, please contact the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and ask about their veterans programs.

A memorial service, to be held in Rhode Island, will be announced in the coming months.
