Ashley Holberton Obituary
Ashley (Lynn) Olive Holberton of Phoenix Arizona and formerly of Wood River Junction, RI passed peacefully on September 2, 2024. She is survived by her father,
Thomas Holberton (Janet), mother Barbara Holberton (Mike Fusaro), sister Jennifer Holberton (Nick Benoit), step-sister Jessica Ziolko (John) and step-brother Joseph Baker. She is also survived by her partner Ryan Gorman of Phoenix, Arizona. She was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Howard and Joanne Holberton and maternal grandparents, Frank and Anna Stapleton. She also leaves behind several aunts, uncles and cousins. Ashley was proud and proficient in her lineage, with a profound connection to her family and their ancestry.
Ash graduated from Chariho High School class of 2005. She continued her love of learning through reading and exploring. A nightly Jeopardy fan, she flourished
in a range of facts. Ashley held jobs she loved within the local community: Sandy's Fine Foods, Dunns Corner Market, Watch Hill Yacht Club and The Malted Barley. She thrived in her ability to connect with others.
A cherished friend to so many, Ashley was a free spirit with a bright and loving soul. She presented as a poem, filled with the flow of words; a clever combination of wit and beauty. Nourished by nature, Ashley found peace in the woods, by The River, at the beach, amid the
meadow, and through her love of animals. A brave member of the Ramrod Vaulting Team, horses held her heart. Yet, wherever she wandered, Ashley found folks from whom she would forge a friendship.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Graveside Funeral Service at 11am on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Cemetery Lane, Ashaway RI 02804. Visiting hours will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 4-6 pm, Gaffney Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly, RI 02891. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hopkinton Animal Control, Charles Niles Complex, 95 Woodville Road, Hopkinton, RI 02833. We only got to know Ashley a few years and our hearts are breaking for her family. I have two favorite times we got to spend with her is going to the drive-in and seeing the Lion King such a fun night. Another is when she came over and carved pumpkins with my husband, son, mother, and myself. It was such a fun Halloween that year she made it very special.
