Catherine D. Weyant

WESTERLY - Catherine Cathy D. Weyant, 76, of Westerly, RI passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Westerly Hospital. She was the loving wife of Thomas Weyant. Born at the Anderson Hospital on May 7, 1949, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Brown) Dower.

Cathy graduated from Westerly High School in 1967 and went on to the Catherine Gibbs School. Working at the University of Rhode Island, she then earned a BA and masters degree in education. She spent many years as a teacher and reading specialist in the Chariho School District.

Cathy was an artist and member of the Artist Co-op of Westerly. As a lifelong member of Westerly she loved our little town and loved the outdoors where she could run, cycle and walk. She was a sailor and long-time member of the Watch Hill Yacht Club. After retiring she spent many years traveling with Tom and friends. Most of all she loved her family, friends and the time they spent together. Cathy loved animals and was an avid dog lover.

Beside her loving husband Tom, she leaves behind her brother Richard Dower (Melanie) and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Brewer.
