Edward Sorel Jr.

ASHAWAY - Edward Sorel, Jr., 86, of Ashaway, RI passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Westerly Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret Ann (White) Sorel. Born in Providence, RI on February 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Edward, Sr. and Gertrude (Evans) Sorel.

Edward served his county proudly in the US Army. He went on to become the owner and operator of Sorel Engine Service, along with working for the Town of Westerly. He always enjoyed building projects and was truly a mechanical genius, always creating a machine or two even until his later years. He was most proud of how he raised his kids and felt that his real life work was done after they grew up. Edward was an all-around great guy with many good friends and neighbors. He was well loved. He loved his life every day and never complained even as his health declined. Edward will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Edward leaves his daughter Carolyn (Sorel) Hart and her husband Christopher. Daughter Victoria Sorel and his son Edward Sorel, III; his grandchildren Charles Hart, James Hart, Christina Hart, Emily (Martell) Marques and her husband Steve, Marissa Martell and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife Margaret Ann (White) Sorel; his daughter Nancy (Sorel) Martell and son-in-law Oscar Martell.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
