Evelyn Stedman Obituary
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Paul H. Reese and his wife Adelaide.
Evelyn was a Registered Nurse at the Westerly Hospital, and was previously employed at the Fort Hamilton Veterans Hospital. She was a graduate of Hunter College High School in Manhattan and earned her BSN from Wagner College where she lettered in basketball. She met her future husband Jim while training as a Nurse Practitioner at URI.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her three children, Beth (Mark) Van Deusen of Hollywood, MD, Jason (Jennifer) Stedman of Coventry, RI, and James (Marissa) Stedman of Ault, CO, her siblings, Paul Reese of NJ, Peter Reese of NY, and Nancy Curtis of NJ, Robert and Brian Kassenbrock of NY, as well as nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Craig Reese.
A visiting hour will be held on Friday August 11th from 11am – 12 noon in the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly, RI. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the funeral home. Burial will be private. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com

Evie was a compassionate person and nurse. She always put her patient´s needs first. She was always someone ready to teach anyone who needed help
I worked with her on third shift for years. She was part of our westerly hospital family
