To Frank´s family and friends, once again I am sending my condolences for the loss of a great person and colleague. As we commemorate his third anniversary we find that he was a significant loss to all that knew him. I still have fond memories of working with him. He was always available to help and/or provide suggestions for resolving any particular problem. His smile, and quiet manner, is greatly missed. I truly enjoyed knowing and working with him. May he always rest in peace.

Anita, Christopher and Darcie,
I can only envision these past three years without Frank have been a profound void in your lives. I know a gentleman with a big heart like Frank´s absence is felt deeply by his family, friends, and colleagues every single day. Frank's kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support touched everyone he met, leaving an indelible mark on ALL our hearts. As your family navigates life without him, I pray you cherish the shared memories and strive to honor his legacy. Frank, you are forever missed and always remembered.

As I was driving around Stonington Borough last week, fond memories of Frank and Anita from 1998 or 1999 came to mind. I attended the blessing of the fleet with Lidia, and once we arrived at the church, I encountered a familiar couple from Navy Housing in Groton, where we used to live. During our walk, Bill and Yvette Miner extended an invitation for me and my mother-in-law to join them at their table after the service. As we descended the stairs, Bill mentioned that we would enjoy the company of the couple they were sitting with, whom my mother would refer to as "Good People." When I approached the table, Yvette introduced me to Anita and Frank Gonsalves, remarking on the smallness of the world.

My prayers go out to you all, Frank was a great co-worker. I remember Frank as Mr Tempalt for years as the program office employee that always took time to help fellow co-workers get the job done.

Dear Anita, Christopher, Darcie, and the entire circle of Frank´s family `n´ friends,

I´ve known Frank, and worked with him for many years here at EB. I remember him fondly and share in y´all´s grief. He was capable, agreeable, willing and cooperative, but...more than anything else, Frank was a stone-cold gentleman. He was old school that way, and it made him stand out. I enjoyed every time he came up as my "handler" (Task Manager) for a specific job, because we worked so well together.

Understanding the hole left behind, regardless the inevitability or forewarning, pray this helps some wee bit...to allow...enable...the grief! And the grief will come, the pain unfortunate, but as necessary; embrace it and let it work its magic, while remembering the depth of it is a yardstick of not only the impact of your loss, but the breadth of the love it represents. So truly sorry to hear about your husband, father, grandfather, friend. At least now he´s at peace with our Lord... definitely keepin´ y´all in my prayers!

When my mother died, even after a years-long battle with cancer, I was shattered by the loss...inconsolable...she was my mentor! I like to think that I got my character from my father, but my mind and its capacity from m´dear sainted mother!!! BUT, "If your faith assures you she's in heaven, then what are the tears all about?!?" I hold eternity dearly close...a cherished, hard-won prize...but, in the interim, that answer lies below.

SELFISH TEARS
(I Eulogize My Beloved Mother - March, 1989)

Today we cry...must admit they're selfish tears.
You see...our faith assures your journey's done.
But it's not for you we mourn, at all, my dear;
It's for those of us you've left behind...alone!!!

We share your joy...share your happiness at rest,
Your painful fears now for forever stilled.
You've fought the good fight, passed the final test,
But you've left behind a hole that can't be filled!!!

So, until we each rejoin you some someday,
And, while your memory buoys us through those years,
We'll miss you...but continue on our way,
And, from time to time, we'll cry our selfish tears!!!

It saddened me to learn another long-time neighbor and friend had passed. Frank was someone I would see all the time when we both lived on Elm Street, and later on occasion, we would run into each other around town. Treasure your memories to keep him always alive in your hearts. My condolences to all who loved and will miss him.
