Gayle Birchell Obituary
Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of Catherine Jordan of Westerly and the late Erwood Jordan.
Gayle worked for years as a retail clerk at Putnam Hallmark where one could always count on her to give a friendly helping hand, a spirited opinion, a good laugh or a quick story.
She will be dearly remembered by her many friends and acquaintances.
In addition to her mother and beloved companion, Gayle will be deeply missed by her three children, Kristopher Birchell and his wife Liz of Pawcatuck, Kyle Birchell and his wife Kate-Lyn of Preston, CT and Christy Birchell of Westerly; two step-children, Timothy Altimari of Westerly and Shannon Altimari of Switzerland; her sister Dayle Caswell of Pawcatuck; and several nieces and nephews. Gayle was predeceased by her sister Heather Clachrie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Funeral service and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Gayle's memory. I am so sorry to hear about this. I only saw it today (Friday) or I would have been there yesterday. I have known Gayle for 50 years and this is just so sad. I wish her mother Peace. It has been a bad year for her.

Gayle and I had some really good times together back in the day when she worked for Santoro Insurance and I was working across the hall from her. We went on many excursions together and had so many laughs. I will really miss her great laugh and her fun personality. My sincere condolences and sympathy go out to her family and friends. This is such a loss for all her knew Gayle, especially her loved ones.

The best memories I have include Gayle.
No words can describe how she impacted so many lives. You just wanted to be in her company, because you always felt better when you were.

In a time long gone by, at a place far, far away (The Island House) she would always greet me saying :Dennie how the hell are you?" She never failed to bring a smile to my face. Those were the best of times and the world was a better place with Gayle in it.
