Mariette Pendleton-Berardo Obituary
She was born in Westerly along with her twin sister Janet on Christmas day 1945. She is the daughter of the late Stuart N. and Emilie G. Pendleton.
Mariette is a graduate of Syracuse University with a BFA in art and received recognition for sculpture. She was an art teacher in the Westerly School system for 30 years and had various art exhibits over the years and judged several local art shows.
She was also an equestrian and her five-gaited Saddlebred won many ribbons.
Mariette is survived by her twin, Janet H. Pendleton of Reston, VA and three nephews and a niece. She was predeceased by her husband Roland Berardo and brothers S. Nicol Pendleton and James Monroe Pendleton.
Mariette will be buried alongside her husband Roland at River Bend Cemetery at a later date.

Mariette spend many years sharing and creating art with hundreds of Westerly students. I recall her working on portfolios with students going on to art school. She was a very colorful woman and respected by many. Rest in peace Mariette. You made a difference.

I had her as a teacher many years ago. When you get to my age, you've forgotten all but the best teachers and she was one I will always remember. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

She was a wonderful and quirky and fearless teacher. I think often of how she taught me things I use every day including how to relax and just create. So sorry for your loss.
