George Nacci Obituary

George R. (Buddy) Nacci, 81, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at South Kingstown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the beloved husband of Nancy J. (Funk) Nacci. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Eugene Nacci and Rosa (Scorpio) Nacci.
Mr. Nacci was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where he received his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. Mr. Nacci had a highly successful career as a chemical engineer/inventor at the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Del., with over 25 patents to his credit.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Besides his wife, he leaves his four children: Stephen E. Nacci and his wife, Esther, of Wakefield; Mark Nacci of Hopkinton; John F. Nacci of Narragansett; and Elizabeth J. Nacci of Westerly. He was the stepfather of Kelly S. Paulo and her husband, Nicholas, of Lake Worth, Fla.; and Tracey L. Cushing, of North Kingstown. Cherished grandfather of Brianna Nacci of Kentucky and step-grandfather of Danielle Cushing of Wakefield, Rachel Allen of Port Charlotte, Fla; Nicholas Paulo of Lake Worth; Matthew Paulo of Lake Worth; and Pete Stanton of Wakefield. He was the brother of Eugene Nacci of North Carolina, Edward Nacci of Providence, Joseph Nacci of Sarasota, Fla.; Roberta McGinn of East Greenwich; and the late Vito (Dave) Nacci, Ann DeMichele and Marie Altruda. He also leaves his faithful friend, Buddy the Dog.
Mr. Nacci had many passions that he enjoyed and shared with others, such as cooking, gardening, music, theatre, boating, pets and politics. He always shared his appreciation of the simple things in life, from the beauty of an orchid to the joy of his gardening. No matter where he was, Mr. Nacci always had deep love for his home state of Rhode Island.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford, 140 West Main St., Wickford Village, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard Church, 415 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown.
Burial with military honors will follow in the R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to The Alzheimer's Association or Gentiva Hospice of Rhode Island will be appreciated. For online messages of condolence, kindly visit www.CranstonMurphy.com.
