Gesualdo DiFazio Obituary

Gesualdo "Aldo" DiFazio, 71, of Pierce Street, Westerly, passed away at home on Sunday evening, April 11, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara A. (Gencarella) DiFazio of Westerly; his son and daughter-in-law, Dominic A. and Jean P. DiFazio of Westerly, his daughter and son-in-law, Mary-Susan D. and Bryan E. Pedersen of Westerly; four grandchildren, MacKenzie, Zachary, James and Philip Aldo, all of Westerly; his step-grandson, Evan of Westerly; his sister, Agnes DiMicheli of Italy; his cousins, Angelina Caruso, Gaetanna Polizzi, Vincenzo Guarnieri, Gesualdo Guarnieri and Rose Chiapponi.
Mr. DiFazio was also predeceased by his grandson, Nathaniel Gesualdo; his brother, Caloggoro; and his sister, Gaetanna Leone.
Mr. DiFazio was born in Caltavetura, Italy, on Jan. 8, 1939, the son of the late Domenico and Maria-Socorsa (Guaggentia) DiFazio. Aldo served in the Italian military before coming to the United States and becoming a citizen in 1968. For many years, he was a painter at Harris Graphics Company of Pawcatuck. He was the former owner of Famous Pizza of Westerly and DiFazio's Famous Pizza of North Stonington. Aldo was an avid card player who loved tending to his roses and spending time with his family. The light of Aldo's life were his grandchildren. He was always well known as a generous and helpful man.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 64 Friendship St., Westerly. Mary Susan and family,

I am so sorry for you loss. Your father was a great man. I loved spending many nights at your house with him and your family. Even though I didn't see him often he always remembered me and greeted me like years had not gone by.
