James T. Meenan

James (Jim) Timothy Meenan, 73, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016 at the Westerly Health Center.
He was a self employed painter running Jim's Painting Service in the 1980's. He helped his sister, Chickie Briggs run the Westerly Del's Franchise and Chickie's Crafts & Gifts for many years. He became a CNA working at the Clipper, and Watch Hill Manor, prior to his most recent employment at the Westerly Hospital.
Jim, being a very religious man, devoted his time and services to St. Mary's Church in Carolina, serving as a choir member, adult altar server, and assisting with many fundraising events. For many years, he was a faithful Adorer at the Immaculate Conception Church in Westerly, and St. James Chapel in Charlestown.
Jim was a quiet man who loved God, his family, friends and his four legged companions. He is predeceased by his sister, Mary Shirley Meenan; his mother, Mary (Mullen) Meenan; his father, John Meenan; his brother, John Meenan; and his sister, Veronica "Chickie" (Meenan) Briggs. He is leaving behind his nephew, Scott Briggs; his great-nephew, Lorcan Briggs; his cousin, John Slavin and wife, Carol, and sons, Chris, Scott and wife, Stacy Grillo, and John (deceased); and his most recent companion, the white German Shepard, Scarlett. He also leaves behind many friends, coworkers, and many who knew and loved him.
There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Mary's Church, in Carolina, R.I. on Saturday, Aug. 27th, at 10 a.m. Per his request, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Animal Rescue Rhode Island, www.animalrescueri.org where he had adopted his last two companions, Clementine and Scarlett.
