Judith Jean Haberek

WESTERLY - With deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Judith Jean Coningford Haberek, 78, of Palm Beach, Fl. and Westerly, R.I., on June 8, 2025. Her loving family surrounded her during her hospitalization.

Judith, Judy to family and friends was born on June 3, 1947 in Warwick, R.I. She was the daughter of Gladys Gloria Studley Coningford and Phillip William Coningford.

She was the beloved wife of Edgar P. Haberek Jr, they were married 58 years. As loving mother of three, she pursued her education and obtained her Master's degree in Social Work from Springfield College. Judy became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She dedicated herself to her profession as a certified alcohol and drug counselor at the Boneski Treatment Center at the Norwich State Hospital in Norwich, Ct. She enjoyed a fulfilling career helping others and retired from Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown, Ct.

Graced with abundant energy and an adventurous spirit, Judith traveled the world, taking cruises with family and included two of her granddaughters Victoria and Veronika in her travels. Upon retirement, she lived her dream of becoming a snowbird and resided in Palm Beach, Fl., most of the year in paradise.

She cultivated the best of friendships with lovely ladies, with whom she enjoyed shows at the Kravis Center and games of Mah Jongg. She loved to track down collectibles and antiques. She also had a sincere interest in real estate.

She is predeased by her brother Phillip W. Coningford, and is survived by her sister, Patricia A. Healy (John Healy). Judy was the loving mother to three childen, eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Son, Edgar P Haberek III (Carla Garcez), daughter, Kelly A. Hunter (Steven D. Murray) grandsons Miles O. Hunter and Maxwell C Hunter, and son Garrett A. Haberek, (Maureen Siciliano) grandsons Greyson Haberek and Ethan Haberek, nieces Debbie Monroe, Sandy Coningford and nephew Caswell Cooke Jr.

Mass will be held 10am on Friday, June 20, 2025 at St Pius X Church, 44 Elm Street, Westerly, R.l. 02891

Viewing hours will take place Thursday June 19, 2025 4-7pm at Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main Street, Westerly, R.I. 02891
