Katherine Moussie Obituary

NORTH STONINGTON - Katherine (Marie) Moussie, 80, of North Stonington, died on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Westerly Hospital. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Curtis, who died in April, 2023.

Marie was born in December of 1944 in South Carolina, and spent a lot of time on a family farm in her childhood, and enjoyed ballet and tap dancing as she got older. As a teen, her military family moved to Hawaii, and eventually to Ledyard, CT. Marie graduated from Norwich Free Academy, where she met Curt. She attended college and worked various jobs in her younger years, but eventually stayed home to raise her family.

Marie was a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She loved birdwatching and cared for all animals, especially her dogs. A big fan of UCONN Womens basketball games, Marie shared this enjoyment with her granddaughters. She absolutely adored her family. They gave her joy and purpose throughout the years. Most of all, she loved the Lord and found quiet moments to pray to Jesus daily. Kind to everyone, she made an impact on the people who knew her. No matter what life brought her way, Marie maintained her positive outlook and exemplified grace.

She is survived by her devoted daughters Kyra and Tren (son-in-law Tim), granddaughters Lexie (husband Richard) and Savannah, and great-children, Tucker and Adelynn. In addition to her husband, parents, and her brother Butch, she is predeceased by her first daughter, Tarna.

Per her wishes, a private graveside service was held for the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to central Baptist Church in Westerly, RI. Many thanks to Rev. Cal Lord for his visits and uplifting words, and to the congregation for their prayers.

Marie was loved very much, and is already greatly missed.
