Mark O'Donnell Obituary
Mark J. O'Donnell, beloved husband of Theresa (Federico) O'Donnell, of Butterfly Drive, Westerly, passed away at Westerly Rehab and Health Care center on Friday, December 6, 2024 at the age of 74.
Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late J. Lambert and Alice O'Donnell.
A graduate of Westerly High School and Fairfield University, Mark worked in sales at Shetucket Plumbing Supply Co. for many years.
He was inducted into the Westerly High Hall of Fame in 2008, was a Democratic Delegate to the 87 RI Constitutional Convention and a member of several local clubs including the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, the Elks Lodge BPOE 678, the Calabrese Society and the Bocce Club.
He will be dearly missed by a multitude of friends.
Mark leaves behind his wife Theresa; three children, Russell O'Donnell and wife Gretchen, Raymond O'Donnell, and Kelly Fizzano and husband Nick; his brother Nicholas O'Donnell and wife JoAnn; eight grandchildren; and three stepchildren, Michael Alice (Emily), Erika Austin (Kyle) and Matthew Alice. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Pearl and brother James L.
O'Donnell.
Visiting hours are omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, December 13 at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm Street, Westerly. Burial will be private. Mark was my college roommate sophomore year and the best man at my wedding in 1970. We played college basketball together for two years.
Mark was someone I loved and admired. He was a great player and role model.
I´m sorry to hear of his passing and send my condolences to his family and friends. I´ll always remember Mark as an exceptional human being.

I met Mark in our Junior year at Fairfield University. He transferred-in to play basketball. He had a self-deprecating sense of humor that immediately won everyone over. After college we got together in Westerly a few times. Then, family obligations always seemed to delay our plans. Now he is gone and I regret not having seen OD in years.

To the entire O'Donnell family my sincere condolances of the passing of your husband, father and grandfather. Our friendship goes back decades and all of you will be in my prayers in this trying time.
