Mary O'Connell Obituary

Mary A. (Lallo) O'Connell, of North Caldwell, N.J., passed away on Wednesday morning, Dec. 23, 2009, at Mountainside Hospital.
Mary was born in Westerly, the daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Montalto) Lallo. She lived in Montclair and North Caldwell for 45 years. She was the secretary to the president of the University of Pennsylvania in the late 1950s and most recently served for 21 years as Customer Service Administrator for the Economics Press of Fairfield, N.J.
She was highly accomplished at knitting and related crafts and gave many beautiful gifts of her handiwork to family and friends. She was a travel enthusiast. During her overseas vacations, she visited several European countries and spent time in 18 of the 20 regions of Italy.
Mary was the beloved wife of Edward V. O'Connell of North Caldwell and is also survived by her sister, Barbara Sisco; brothers, John and Edward Lallo; and numerous nieces and nephews in Westerly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 64 Friendship St., Westerly. Our deepest condolences for our beloved Aunt Mary to our Uncle Ed O'Connell and the entire Lallo family. Aunt Mary was a warm and loving Aunt who always enjoyed our company and we, hers. From the O'Connells in Texas: Michael, Judith (Peduzzi), Andrew, and Jacquelyn.

Our MOM was a very close friend of Mary's thur their childhood years here in Westerly and as classmates of WHS Class of 1944. Mary was a bridesmaid in our parents wedding on 7/9/1949.

I worked for Mary's brothers, have known the Lallo family since I was a teenager and met Mary when I was around 19 or 20. I always admired her style. She was warm and friendly whenever I saw her. I know she will be missed. My condolences to her husband Ed, and to the entire Lallo family.
