Michael A. Nardone

Michael A. Nardone, age 71, died on August 8, 2023. He was the son of the late Henry J. Nardone, Sr. and the late Mary Frances (Herley) Nardone. Michael was born in 1952 at the former Murphy Army Hospital in Waltham, Massachusetts.
He graduated from the former Immaculate Conception School in 1966, Westerly High School in 1969 and the University of Rhode Island in 1973. He earned a master's degree in occupational therapy from Boston University in 1975 and did additional graduate work at New York University and Columbia University School of Public Health. He worked as an occupational therapist in New York City and subsequently at Rhode Island Hospital before he entered full-time academia. He was an assistant professor at the University of Hartford, became an instructor at Worcester State College and Director of Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at the Community College of Rhode Island.
Upon retiring from full-time work, he continued to teach as an adjunct instructor at CCRI and worked part-time at the Westerly Hospital Geri-Psych Unit. He was a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and Rhode Island Occupational Therapy Association.
In his spare time, Michael enjoyed gardening, reading, movies and summers spent at Seaside Beach Club with family and friends.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Zenia (Nardone) Morrone, and her husband, Brian. He was fondly known as "Papa Mick" to his beloved grandsons, Dominic and Alec. He is survived by his siblings, Henry J. Nardone, Jr, and his wife Barbara; William A. Nardone, Esq. and his wife Diane; Robert H. Nardone and his wife Patricia; and his sister, Andrea F. Nardone.
Additionally, he is survived by his nieces and nephews, Henry J Nardone III and his wife Linda, Jennifer McDonald and her husband Brian, Heather Pescatello and her husband Mark Zagol, Madison Nardone, William Chase Nardone, Michaela Micelli and her husband Anthony, Alexandra Nardone, Robert Nardone Jr. and his fiance Alexandra Stellon, Christopher Nardone and his fiance Stephanie Brennan, and Nicholas Nardone, He also leaves behind many great nieces, nephews, cousins and his best friend of 66 years, Ernest Vetelino.
Services will be private. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Westerly Hospital Foundation Geri-Psych Unit in Michael's memory.
