Mildred Anthes Obituary

Mildred Anthes

Mildred "Millie" Anthes (Harmeyer) passed away peacefully in her home the morning of November 29, 2024. At the age of 96, she was known most affectionately and most often as "Mimi" to her friends and family who will miss her humor, her warmth, and her comforting presence. Born December 22, 1927, Millie was raised in Mamaroneck, NY and attended Sewing School before going to work in the Garment District of New York City. Millie met and married Richard (Dick) Anthes and settled in Darien, CT where they raised their four children together. When she and her husband retired, they moved to Westerly, RI where they folded themselves into the beach community of Misquamicut.

Millie was a selfless, outgoing, and vibrant person. She, along with her husband, were active members of Dunn's Corner Community Church, singing in the choir, hosting fellowship hour on Sundays, and personally making most of the treats served. Millie was an avid sewer and baker, hand making all her own children's

clothes, and many items for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of the fondest memories were made with "Mimi" in her kitchen or at the beach, two places where she loved to be with the people she loved. Millie was, of course, a proud member of the "Beach Bums" (her group of friends who spent most days together at the beach. Millie will be remembered for her smile, her kind heart, and her thoughtfulness to others.

Millie is predeceased by her husband of nearly 70 years, Richard Anthes. Millie is survived by her children, Jayne Rossberg (Don), Susan Lloyd (Homer), Barbara Hegedus (Laszlo), and Peter Anthes (Jeannie). Her legacy is also carried on by her five grandchildren: Leah Hegedus-Jones, Jason Hegedus, Neil, Rudie, and Jodi Anthes. Millie also had the joy of being loved by five great-grandchildren: Lily Jones, Eli and Luke Anthes, and Ramona and Laszlo Hegedus. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dunn's Corners Community Church Presbyterian.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of one this world's kindest, gentlest persons. I loved Millie and enjoyed working with her at church. Didn't realize Dick had past. The master of mischief and merriment. RIP Millie.
