Peter F. Mitchell

Peter F. Mitchell, 93, husband of the late Mildred (Kondej) Mitchell, of Pawcatuck, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012.
Born in Pawcatuck, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rose Mitchell.
Peter was employed in insurance sales for the Thomas Santoro Agency and worked for Electric Boat. He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church and a life member of the Maria Assunta Society and the Pawcatuck Italo-American Club. A U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II, Peter served as Commander and Service Officer of the American Legion Post #152, served on the Westerly-Pawcatuck Veterans Board of Control for many years and was a charter president of the Pawcatuck Lions Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Rose Marie Mitchell of Manchester, Conn.; a son, Philip G. Mitchell and his wife, Stephanie, of Plantsville, Conn.; a sister, Virginia Anderson, of Pawcatuck, and two grandchildren, Peyton F. Mitchell and Olivia R. Mitchell. Peter was predeceased by his sisters, Josephine Mitchell, Rosalie Mitchell and Mary Padula and brothers, Paul and Angelo Mitchell.
A visiting hour will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Immediately following will be a Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck. There is no procession to the church from the funeral home.
