Rhandi Whewell Obituary
Born in Westerly she was a daughter of the late Carl H. and Margaret Johnson.
Rhandi and Leon retired in Aiken, SC and summered in Westerly. After Leon passed, Rhandi moved back to Westerly to be close to her family. She had an active group of friends and former classmates who she enjoyed meeting with regularly. Rhandi didn't let her health issues stop her activities with family, friends and church. She left a lasting impression with all she met and will be dearly missed. Her family would like to thank her care givers Wanda, Helena, Doris, Pam and Coco for helping her live a full life in her own home.
She leaves her three children, Leon A. Whewell, Jr., of Mystic, CT; David M. Whewell of Hopkinton; and Christine M. Morrone of Westerly. She is also survived by her five siblings, Patrick Johnson of Newport; John Johnson of Willow Spring, NC; Steven Johnson of Walker, MN; and Peggy Souto of Raleigh, NC; and Carl Johnson of ME; as well as seven grandchildren, Amanda, Evan, Autumn and Austin Whewell, Ashley Roberts and Molly and Louis Morrone; two great grandsons, Nicholas and Jason Roberts and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Michael Johnson and a sister Kerry Edwards.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 5-7 p.m., at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Liturgy will take place at St. Mary's Church, 95 Main St. Stonington on Friday, Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m. There is no procession to the church from the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The National Adrenal Diseases Foundation in Rhandi's memory. man im missing you and grampy tonight. yall dont know how many times i want to call you or him up and talk to you about how i finally moved out, got a job i love so far, and got a 2002 manual mustang that i have been working on. i actually taught myself how to drive a stick shift, but i know if grampy had been here he would have loved to show me a few tips and tricks and would be ecstatic to help me work on the car. i broke the clutch in it the first week i drove it and took me just a few days shy of a month to fix it but now she drives like a dream. Man i would haved loved to take you and him for a spin in it. i love you to the moon and back -Evan O 10/26/2020

To the Whewell Family and also the Johnson family - My thoughts & prayers are with you at this time of grief. Rhandi was a classmate & friend. She was always a fun person to be with & will always be a fond part of High School memories.

Please accept the condolences of the staff and membership of the senior center. Rhandi will be remembered fondly by those with whom she played a "mean game" of cards. She was a faithful volunteer at the center while her health allowed.
