Rico F. Bruno

PAWCATUCK, Conn. - Rico F. "Rick" Bruno of Pawcatuck, and beloved husband for 32 years of Linda (Schilke) Bruno, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn., on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014.

Born in Westerly, Rick was the son of the late Frank and Yolanda Bruno. He had been employed as a meat cutter for the past 27 years at Stop & Shop. He was also the former co-owner and operator of Bruno's Market in Westerly. A communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, he was also a member of the Calabrese Society and Local #371, where he was serving as the current shop steward. Rick was a life-time rabid New York Yankees and football Giants fan. He was also an accomplished cook who loved spending time with his family and was known as an exceedingly knowledgeable music fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tina Dillon, and her husband, Rob, of Voluntown, Conn.; and his son, John Healy Jr., and his wife, Ana, of Westerly. He also leaves a brother, Frank Bruno, and his wife, Mary; and a sister, Palma Trombino, and her husband, Medoro, all of Westerly. Rick is also survived by four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.

Visiting hours will be held in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, on Monday, Jan. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 111 High St., Westerly on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. There will be no procession from the funeral home to the church. Burial will be in River Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut in Rick's Memory.
