Russell Amoruso Obituary
Russell Amoruso, beloved husband of Eileen (Merrihew) Amoruso, of Westerly, RI and of Yonkers, NY, passed away in New York on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the age of 78.
Born in Yonkers, he was the son of the late William and Mary Amoruso of Italian descent.
Russell owned and operated a small business in NY with his sons. He was also a licensed pilot who loved sailing, his Mooney, and Chevy Corvettes. Most important to Russell was his family and close friends.
He was a member of the
nights of Columbus Council #21, the Elks, and Westerly Yacht Club.
In addition to his loving wife Eileen, he is survived by his three children, Mary Amoruso, Russell Amoruso Jr. and wife Haley, and Michael Amoruso and wife Marguerita. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren who loved him as RaRa; not to mention the many nieces and nephews, the list goes on.
Visiting hours will be held from 3pm - 6pm on Monday, September 23rd at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Family and friends are also invited to attend a Catholic Mass to be celebratedat 10am on Tuesday, September 24 at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly. Burial will follow at River Bend Cemetery, 117 Beach Street, also in Westerly. In lieu of flowers please donate in memory of Russell Amoruso to CCALS (https://ccals.org/donate/?d onateto=14389). Dear Eileen and family,
Eileen, you and I had many conversations about your busy life of back and forth from New York. Unfortunately, I did not get to chat with Russel as much, just as in passing. But I know that yours was a loving family and your loss is a major heartbreak. I am so sorry for you and your family. Please know that I am thinking of you and wish you comfort and peace as you mourn this loss.

I´m so sorry to learn of Russ´s passing. I feel honored to have known him and to have called him a friend! I will miss our chats about Italian foods, the Yankees and all things New York. May all your happy memories give you comfort at this time!
