Theresa "Terry" M. Dombi, age 75 passed away peacefully early in the morning on Friday August 9th, 2024. She passed in her home surrounded by her husband George Dombi, and daughters Rachel and Madeline Dombi. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 30th, 1949, to the late David and Mary (Neumayer) Jones.
Theresa worked as a nurse for over 15yrs. During this time, she also put herself through undergrad, where she met her husband, George. She received her Masters and PHD in physiology at Wayne State University, Detroit Michigan in 1991. She worked for several pharmaceutical companies over the course of her career, before finally settling at Pfizer where she worked in research and drug development until her retirement in 2019. As a Mensa member she used her incredible intelligence to help others with her
career and encourage curiosity in her daughters within her personal life. She often enjoyed visiting art museums with her daughter Rachel. She also supported her daughter Maddie in her competitive sports and high school show choir as her #1 fan. She was a fan of musicals, the aquarium (her favorite animal was blue whales), and spending times with her friends.
The Eldest of four, Terry grew up caring for her two youngest sisters, Patty and Kathy, with the help of her second sister, Ann. The four of them have remained close over the course of her life and were often found laughing up a storm. Although empathetic and generous of heart, Terry did not take guff or suffer fools. She commanded the room when necessary and went out of her way to ensure others were being treated fairly.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Terry's name to
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
