Brother Leroy was a Good Man...
He worked for my Dad and Uncle in their construction business, Taylor Brother's Construction for Decades.
STRONG AS A BULL!
Even on the Hottest Toughest Days Brother Leroy Sang and Whistled all day long!
I NEVER, EVER heard him complain about Anything Whatsoever...
Not about the weather conditions, or picking up the slack of lesser workers on the jobsite...NOTHING
Brother Leroy always stayed in his lane and did the work he had to do to the Best of his abilities...
Brother Leroy loved the song "Don't worry, be Happy" and that was Brother Leroy ALWAYS Happy.
As a young boy on the jobsite he'd say, "Don't Worry Brother Mike, be Happy"
And all of the sudden sweating like a Pig while breathing the mortar dust all day seemed bearable with Brother Leroy's encouragement from starting to quiting time...
And he'd be an uplifting voice all while carrying two 80lb buckets of mortar up 3 stories of scaffolding to the Brick Masons!
He was the Hardest Working Man I've ever known to this very day. (and he was in his 40's)
And he had a heart of gold...As a young boy, he would see me trying to lift too many bricks and he'd run over to tell me, "Lifting that much will hurt you later in life"
Other Men on the job would just laugh as I struggled...
When building scaffolding he'd tell me of the great responsibility he had for the safety of the Men who were going to be climbing his scaffolding.
And when I set up scaffolding he told me what I did right, and pointed out without shaming me what I did wrong...Ultimately he had to ensure the scaffolding was on a solid and level foundation before stacking.
Brother Leroy never stopped looking out for his masons even after retirement...
When his good friend and my Dad, Paul J. Taylor was dying of cancer it was Brother Leroy who come around to visit and look after my Dad.
Thanks for the Memories Brother Leroy and the Life Lessons I carry with me to this very day.
R.I.P.
