Hellen Shafer Obituary

Helen Botto Shafer, age 96, of Palestine, died Friday, May 1, 2020. She had been in poor health for the past several years.
Mrs. Shafer was born March 20, 1924, in Palestine, and was the daughter of L. L. Botto and Nettie Jayroe Botto. She lived in Palestine most all of her life, was a housewife, and a member of the Goodwin Baptist Church.
Mrs. Shafer married Emmett Shafer in 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1963. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Joe Botto.
She is survived by three daughters, Laraine Shafer Cochran of Bolivar, Mo., Lynn Shafer Grimes of McLemoresville, Tenn., and Becki Shafer Lee of Palestine; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Shafer were held graveside at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Bell Cemetery in Palestine, with Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
