Robert Eugene Koon, friend and respected community member, departed from this world on July 4, 2025, at University of Louisville Hospital. Born on Jan. 29, 1947, in Grand Rivers, Robert's journey was one filled with the pursuit of knowledge.
From his early beginnings in Grand Rivers, Robert grew into a man of intellect and wisdom who dedicated his career to the field of electrical engineering. His commitment to his profession was surpassed only by his devotion to his country, as he honorably served in the Army. Robert carried the same integrity and dedication into every facet of his life while maneuvering complex circuits. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Eddyville.
Known for his melodic voice, Robert filled his home with the sound of singing, a joy that delivered comfort and love. His several grandchildren will remember him for the lighthearted moments spent on fishing trips and the thoughtful conversations that made him an ever-present figure in their lives. He was a source of boundless knowledge and a pillar of strength who always had time to share his wisdom and encouragement.
Robert's legacy is carried on by his beloved sons, Brian Jones of Princeton, and David Jones, along with his wife, Sherry, of Linton, Indiana. His cherished sister, Linnie Koon, and nephew, Marty Koon, also survive him. Robert's memory will be carried through the smiles and adventures of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and values he instilled. Granddaughter, Chelsea (Jesse) Sherrill will carry on his legacy.
Preceding Robert in death were his adored wife, Dolores Ann Rogers Koon, his precious daughter, Kathy Ann Fernandez, his parents, Willard and Mae Collins Koon, and his siblings, Rebecca Springs, Charline Moneymaker, Hazel Moneymaker, and brothers Frankie, Clyde, and Marvin Koon.
A man of many affiliations, Robert was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge Dycusberg 232. His thoughtful approach to life and intelligent counsel were valued by all who had the privilege of working alongside him or being part of his extended family and friends.
His was a life well-lived, and while he will be profoundly missed, his legacy will endure in the hearts and minds of those who loved him.
