I can't tell you how many basketballs coach bounced off my face teaching to catch a basketball. He's fondly remembered & was a big part of my high school years. I can still hear him telling his history class about tearing up German streets in tanks I just wish I'd gotten to see him again before he passed.

Farewell Coach Schlegel. Jan and I send our deepest condolences to Jean & family. If I was a smoker, I would light up a big cigar in your honor. Thank you for coaching the Wildcat basketball team to an outstanding 1965-1966 basketball season. Yes, that was long ago, but remains fresh in my memory. I was fortunate to have conversation with you and Jean while Jan and I lived in Valley City. Rest in peace.

Mr. Schlegel was my teacher and BB coach in Wimbledon. He took us to the Barnes County Tournament Championship in 1966, along with all the other tournament awards! My favorite memory was going to scout a game in freezing, snowy weather in his black and yellow Chevy ( I think!.). He told us to bundle up as I believe there were some rust holes in floor....memories get cloudy after 57+ years but the memory of him being a good coach and teacher has not faded. Pat Schlecht

We were sorry to hear of Uncle Alex's passing. May he rest in peace. I have fond memories of working alongside Alex those two summers he spent working
for my mom and dad in Fingal doing whatever they needed done, i.e., painting, carpentry, hauling hay, cleaning out the feedlot, etc. We spent a lot of time talking baseball (the single most important thing in my life in those days). All of you remain in our thoughts and prayers.
