Gregory Clay Hanson

1971 - 2025

Gregory Clay Hansen was born March 22, 1971, in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, the son of Warren (Dick) and Ruby Hansen. His early years were in Sheyenne, ND on an irrigation farm until he moved back to the Hansen Homestead to take over the family farm south of Valley City. His early school years would be attending the small country school, Green School, rural Valley City and later attending and graduating from Valley City High School. After high school he went on to attend NDSU and would receive a Bachelor of Science as an Animal Science Major.

He would go on to marry Joanne Willson on November 1st, 1980, and manage the family farm. After their divorce, Greg would go on to marry Patricia Osier on October 28, 1994, He owned and operated his feed store business Valley Ag Sales. Following his second divorce, he would work in construction alongside his sons and ultimately retire from Stack Construction at age 62.

Greg spent his retirement taking care of his father and mother. Greg loved to spend his time hunting and fishing with his two sons, William (Jessica), Matthew (Amber), and his stepson Adam (Courtney) Osier. He also loved spending time with his 7 grandchildren Keira, Lincoln, Judah, Ruby, Sarai, Millie and Jael. They loved Grandpa's great big bear hugs and playing games with him. Above all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, he never missed a day reading the Bible and covering his family and friends in prayer. That is what we will all miss the most.

Along with his sons and grandchildren, he survived by his mother, Ruby; sisters, Kris (Rick) Swanson and Karen (Greg) Burchill; and brother, Lyle (Angi) Hansen.

He was preceded in death by his father, Warren; brother, Scott; uncle, Carlton; grandchildren, Zechariah and Mary; and nephew, Andrew. Gregory died at the age of 72 on June 13, 2025, at his home in Valley City.

The funeral service will be 10:30 am, Monday, June 23rd at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. Visitation will be one hour prior, and there will be a luncheon to follow.
