Harley Darwin Kluksdal 82 passed away on September 8,2025 at Bickford Memory Care, Sioux City, Iowa.
Harley was born May 21,1943 at Bismarck, ND to Marvin and Hannah Kluksdal. He, along with his brothers, grew up on the farm outside Driscoll,ND. Harley lived a life marked by warmth, humor and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of everyday living.
Harley proudly served his country in the United States Army stationed in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1967.His service was a defining chapter in his life and reflected his enduring sense of duty and resilience.
Harley married Loretta Rasmusson in 1971 at Sanborn, ND. They started their married life in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator which he chose as his profession throughout his working years. Later moving to Greeley, Colorado where children Jason Lee and Amber Kay were born.
Those who knew Harley will remember his joking personality and his remarkable ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He had a signature greeting - "Merry Christmas"! - that he shared year-round with cheerful sincerity. Harley was a passionate gardener, devoted crossword puzzle enthusiast and a solitaire player. He found joy in nurturing both plants and words. Baseball held a special place in his heart. ( he was known as Roger Maris in his younger day by some!) he rarely missed a game on tv - especially if the Colorado Rockies were playing.
He is lovingly remembered by his son Jason of Williston, ND, daughter Amber (Scott) Reynolds of Spirit Lake, Iowa.Grandchildren Austyn, Dillon (Chloe), and Riley Reynolds. Jaxie Scates (Jason) Stonewall, Oklahoma. He also leaves brothers Gary (Susan) and their children John, Julie, David. Dallas (Gale) Kluksdal.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Dayton
In true Harley fashion he often signed off with a heartfelt phrase in broken Norwegian,
"TAKK SKAL DU HA"! - Thank You!
