Walter "Walt" Charles Clement, 85, Valley City, ND, died November 10, 2024, at SMP Health-St. Raphael. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 14, 2024, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City. Visitation will an hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in the St. Catherine Cemetery, following the luncheon at the church. The service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.

Walt was born August 30, 1939, to Edward Clyde and Bernice Marie (Moreau) Clement at home on the family farm in Le Sauk Township, Stearns County, MN.  He graduated from Cathedral High School (St. Cloud, MN) in 1957, then joined the Navy. He served his country from 1957 to 1963.

He married Alberta "Berta" Bonham on Dec. 29, 1962, at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Lone Pine, CA.  They made their home in St. Cloud, MN, from 1963-2004 when they moved to their mountain cabin in Ennis, MT.  From there they moved to Valley City, ND, in 2013.

Walt was employed by the Knights of Columbus Insurance Dept. for 28 years (11 years as a field agent and 17 years as a general agent) for Southwestern, MN.  He was a member of K of C, Council #6438, Valley City, ND, and the Father Pierz Assembly of the 4th Degree in central MN.  He was also trustee of St. Pete's Parish in St. Cloud, MN, for 6 years.

Walt and Berta loved to entertain and had many memorable parties at their homes.  They were past presidents and members of the Beaux and Belles Square Dance Club.  They enjoyed fishing for salmon on Lakes Superior and Michigan.  Walt enjoyed cards with the Solo Group and the Couples 500 group and he enjoyed his brandy.  His favorite saying was "Is it Brandy Time?".

He is survived by his wife, Berta; a daughter, Carrie of St. Louis, MO; sons, Chuck (April) of San Diego, CA, and Chad (Renee) of Valley City, ND; grandsons, Logan of Portland, OR, Hayden of San Diego, CA, Zander and Hunter of Valley City, ND; brothers, Robert, Harold (Lou), Dave (Marilyn), Ralph (Arlene), Don, Art, Bill (Laurie), and Jerry (Rita); and sisters, Delores Henderson (Mike), Jane Gohman (Doc), and Carol Gulbranson (Jim).  Walt loved to tell people that he had 10 brothers and 3 sisters while each of his sisters had 11 brothers.

He was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Angela; his parents; and brothers, Alan and Richard.

Walt will be remembered as a hard worker who was happiest having a job to do. One of his hobbies included woodworking and he loved sharing the mementos (mostly bowls) that he had made over the years.
