Barbara Foust Obituary

In loving memory of Barbara June Foust, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, who passed away after a valiant fight against cancer on May 6, 2004, at age 50.

Born in Oregon, Barbara moved to Humboldt in 1963. She graduated from Arcata High School in 1971, and married her high school sweetheart, Norman Foust, in 1972.

After her three daughters began school, Barb started working as a cook at Sunny Brae Middle School. She eventually became the Head Cook of Arcata School District. She took great pride in preparing quality meals for hundreds of school children each day.

Barbara devoted her entire life to her husband, daughters and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Norman Foust of Manila; daughters, Saundra James and husband William, Carrie Morais and husband Jeremy, and Laura Avelar and husband Nelson; grandchildren, Britney and Ryan Morais and Connor and Holly James, all of Manila. She also leaves behind her loving dog Goobie, and numerous family members and friends.

In lieu of sending flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Humboldt in Barbara’s name.

A special thank you goes to Julie and Robbie of Hospice, for their care and support.

At Barbara’s wishes, there will not be any memorial services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Paul’s Chapel, 1070 H Street, Arcata, CA.

Years have gone by without you & it still feels like yesterday. No amount of time has numbed my pain.
I wish you were here to meet my babies. You’d adore them. I wish you were here to hug me when I’ve had a bad day. You were the best hugger.
I miss our nightly talks. I miss your advice. I have so many unanswered questions. You left me too soon. I was too young to be without your guidance, without your love.
I not only lost my mom that day, I lost my best friend.
I love & miss you with all of my heart Mom!
