Barbara Palmer Obituary

Barbara Ann Palmer

Barbara Ann Palmer passed away January 2, 2004, after a ten year battle with cancer. She was born near Newport, Arkansas, on March 1, 1938, to Dallas and Pansy Jones.

After stops in Wyoming, Washington, and Oregon, they settled in McKinleyville, where she attended and graduated from Arcata Union High School in 1956.

She was a member of the Marine Corps League Auxillary and the Order of Eastern Star, Arcata Chapter No. 207, where she served in many offices and was the recipient of the Dr. Rob Morris Award.

Barbara is survived by her husband and best friend of 43 years, Jim Palmer; her mother, Pansy Jones of Eureka; her daughter, Jan Spannaus and her daughters, Barbara Ranae and Caitlin of Eureka; her daughter, Jacklyn Doell and her husband Tim, and daughter, Kristen of Dallas, TX; son, Tim, his daughter Callie and son, Skyler of Eureka and Fieldbrook, and their mother Ranae Palmer; a sister, Mary Demars and former friend of Eureka, and brother, Steven Jones and his wife Barbara of McKinleyville; two grandsons; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dallas Jones, and her nephew, Douglas Jones.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make donations to the Shriner’s Crippled children’s Hospital or a charity of their choice.

Services for Barbara will be held on Friday, January 9, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. at Paul’s Chapel, 1070 "H" Street, Arcata, with Dr. Billy Lawrence officiating.

I am so sorry hearing Barbara passed away. She would always come to our Gals of 56'luncheon & I always enjoyed visiting with her & will miss her. She always had a smile on her face & a good attitude for what she was going through. May God bless her with eternal happiness in heaven.

Dear Jim,

We will remember Barbara with the fondest memories...especially our back pack trips with our families together. She was a real trooper, and always took life right in stride. Let's keep those wonderful memories, especially "Pleasant Lake" and "Palmer's Notch" in our hearts always!
