Beverly Flaherty Anderson passed away January 7, 2004, at Redwood Memorial Hospital at the age of 79.
She was born on May 23, 1924, in Eureka, the youngest of twelve children to Frederick and Inez Flaherty. She attended Eureka Schools until her junior year when she moved and then graduated from Long Beach High School.
In 1946, she married, Leland Merle Anderson and then lived on the family dairy and they raised four children. Leland died tragically in 1959 while on duty as a Ferndale Volunteer Fireman. Beverly never remarried and spent the rest of her life in Ferndale, raising her four children and then retiring from Citizens Utilities Company. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the center of her life.
She is survived by her sister, Pat Spini and husband Ben of Arcata; sister-in-law, Shirley Simontacchi of Fortuna; daughter, Joni Yorks and fiance Bill Anderson of Fortuna; daughter, Pamela Mauney and husband Dennis of Ferndale; son, Leland Merle Anderson II, of Eureka; daughter-in-law, Cherie Martinelli of Rio Dell; granddaughters, Sherri McCovey of Rohnert Park, Torie Anderson of Eureka; Chrissie Anderson, and Ashlee Primofiore of Rio Dell; grandsons, Patrick Mauney of Ferndale, Ryan Anderson and wife Sara of Blue Lake, and Jayce Anderson of Rio Dell; great-grandchildren, Brianna McCovey, and Zachary Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many special friends.
Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Leland, and son Jay Walter Anderson.
At her request, no formal services will be held. There will be a gathering in Ferndale on Saturday, January 10, 2004, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM for a celebration of her life. Everyone is invited to come and share memories.
Arrangements are under the direction of Goble’s Chapel, Fortuna.
