Carolyn Angie Wright, Age 66, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a courageous 3 month battle with cancer. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama, on April 9th, 1943 to Raymond and Mildred Hipp.
She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Danny E. Wright, her daughter Melissa Cooke, her son Mike Bates, her step-children Danny Wright, Carolyn Gooley, and Betty Rochon, her grandchildren, Madison Cooke, Kamren and Riley Bates, Dylan and Tyler Wright, Derek, Zachary, and Sarah Gooley, Demitria, Anthony, Elijah, and Elizabeth Rochon, and her niece Stacy Gorden and family.
Carolyn was an incredibly beautiful lady that adored her jewelry. She loved life, she loved her husband Danny with all of her heart and her children and grandchildren were her reason for living.
She loved the Lord Jesus and found peace with Him in her last days.
Carolyn had a great sense of humor, was an extremely hard worker, and loved working at Redwood Empire Aggregates. She began working there in 1986 and retired in 2000. The REA Crew was like a family and depended on Carolyn to keep everyone straight. Trucks would be lined up ten deep in both directions, she would be weighing the trucks, answering the phone, adding the weight sheets and talking to the Boss all at the same time without missing a beat. She was a perfectionist in her accounting and they all knew she would have the problem figured out and tell people how to handle it. One of the funny stories that were told about Carolyn that a good friend shared was in the 90’s when "sexual harassment" was a big deal and you weren’t supposed to say anything that might be misinterpreted to the opposite sex, Carolyn again knew how to handle it. She put up a sign in the coffee room for all the truckers and contractors to see that said "Around here Sexual Harassment will not be tolerated -.it will be graded." That was the end of that!!
Carolyn tried to retire but her son Mike had a different idea. He talked his Mom into taking over his accounting at Pro Pacific Auto Repair in Eureka. In short order, she had the books balancing and brought her many years of experience to help Mike build his business.
Little by little she would tell him, I want to work less and play more!
Carolyn’s favorite thing to do when she wasn’t working, was shopping and going to Maui. They would spend as many months there as possible. Each year she added more time to the trip until last year when she and Danny stayed for five months. She would lie by the pool reading a murder mystery, and Danny would stay in the shade in his boots and jeans. Carolyn loved to tell that story "yeah - I sunbathe and Danny just sits in the shade with jeans and boots on!"
The family would like to thank everyone who kept her in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. And a special Thank You, to Dr. Gans and the staff at Mad River Hospital. In lieu of flowers Carolyn would like donations to be sent to hospice of Humboldt or you can make a blood donation in her name. At Carolyn’s request there will be a private interment service for the family on Saturday 5/30/2009 at 12:30pm, at Greenwood Cemetery. There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday 6/13/2009 1pm at Days Inn, Crystal Willow Rm, 4975 Valley West Blvd, Arcata, Ca. Please bring a smile and a story to share.

My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to Danny, Mike, and family. She will be greatly missed by all. I was very fortunate to have known and worked with her at Pro Pacific. I always looked at her as a second mom to me.
