Chloe Gott Obituary

CHLOE B. GOTT Chloe was born at home on the family farm near Waynesville, Missouri, on June 21, 1936. Her parents, Omer & Vella Adkison, welcomed her as the second of their four daughters. Her growing up years were spent in the Missouri Ozarks until World War 2, when the family temporarily moved to Castle Rock, Washington. While living in Castle Rock, by way of a chance encounter at the local feed store, Chloe's family met another family from the Ozarks, Edgar and Eva Gott, among whose members was the man that she would ultimately share a lifetime together with, Rex Gott. After the close of the War the Adkison family moved back to the Ozarks, while the Gott family set down their roots in Washington. This resulted in a long distance romance, which led to a wedding on October 25, 1952. The honeymoon trip found them traveling back to Castle Rock where they began their life together as husband & wife. About a year later their son Harold was born. And then five years after that, Tim was added to the family. Rex worked in the Big Woods. And Chloe, who was a very young mother, began her life's calling of being his best friend & partner in life. In 1961 they moved the family to Humboldt County California. There they started Gott Logging Company, a business that they owned and operated for over 40 years. Her faith in Christ was the driving passion of her life. Her favorite Bible passage was, "For to me to live is Christ", and together Rex & Chloe sought to bring their faith into every area of their lives. After a long battle with ill health, Chloe passed away peacefully from this life early in the morning on August 6, 2018. She & Rex were inseparable. She died 17 days after her beloved partner in life. Chloe is survived by her son, Harold (and wife Linda), by her grandchildren: Jennifer, Robert (and wife Mica), Ellen, Angel, and Amber, two great-grandchildren, Kaden & Urijah, her two sisters, Norma Kotz (and husband John) & Joyce Vandivort, two of Rex's brothers, Norman & Kenneth (and spouses), and by numerous nephews & nieces from both sides of the family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Rex, as well as their son Tim. Also by her parents, sister, Jewel Shelton (and husband Delbert), by her brother-in-law, Jerry Vandivort, and by three of Rex's brothers: Jim, Gene, and Chet. The memorial service will be held at Sander's Funeral home on Saturday, August 11 at 11:00. Harold, I remember you from the good old days at Safeway. Always enjoyed seeing you. Was very happy to see that your life turned out to have a great wife and wonderful family. Carolyn Wiese took me to meet your parents some time ago. I know they had a happy life together.
Just wanted you to to know how proud your parents were of the life you chose.
Enjoy your family and treasure the wonderful memories you have of your parents.
Sincerely, Marilyn( Smith) Dobberstein

Our greatest sympathies to all of the Family! We always said we couldn't imagine one without the other and now they will be together again. Rex and Chloe were a big part of our lives in Arcata and true examples of Christian Faith. They will be missed so much by so many.

Hi, my name is Patty McHaney, we lived across the street from Rex and Chloe in Fieldbrook. We always admired Rex's meticulous upkeep of his property. He even mowed the lawn on our side of the street a few times . I saw Chloe at curves and enjoyed talking to her there. Rex and Chloe were wonderful neighbors, they were my kids first trick-or-treat experience. Chloe seemed to be as pleased to have the little trick-or-treaters as we were to go there. I saw Rex and Chloe just as they finished selling the church on J and 13th St, We live on J St. in Arcata now, and participate in activities at their old church, now called The Sanctuary I am certain that Chloe must have been in that church basement helping out on many occasions. Family of Rex and Chloe, sorry for your loss.
