Clayburn Arivett Obituary

CLAYBURN EUGENE ARIVETT Clayburn "Clay" Arivett, passed peaceably to his heavenly Father on June 7, 2018. Clay was born on June 10, 1950 in Salinas, California to Paul and Sibyl Arivett. He had four brothers, Donald, Clifford, Gerald and David and one sister Connie. He graduated West Coast Bible College in Fresno, California with a Bachelor of Arts in May, 1976 with Honors and received the R Carol Award of achievement. On July 3, 1982, he married Debra Boynton. They raised their family of daughters Denise, Carmen and Sandra. He became an ordained Minister in 1987. Clay was employed by California State Parks for 23 years. He retired as Park Maintenance Supervisor at Humboldt Redwood State Park in Northern California. He was an avid and amazing vintage car modeler. He studied Greek language and learned to read the Bible from original Hebrew and Greek. He has written several Christian studies and 13 books. He has a published book study "Will he find Faith?". Clay ministered to and prayed for many family members and friends. He hoped that everyone he talked with and advised would follow and accept Jesus in their life as their personal Lord and Savior. His warm manner and unconditional love made him a man of Christ. He was a loving, devoted, patient and kind husband and father, brother and friend. Clay is preceded in death by Paul and Sibyl Arivett, Donald Arivett and Clifford Arivett. Clay is survived by his wife Debra Arivett, daughters Denise Arivett, Carmen Del Ponte and Sandra Arivett, brothers Gerald Arivett and David Arivett, sister Connie Broome and grandchildren, Myleina, Christopher, Hayley, Andrew and Naomi. While at West Coast College a bunch of us went to Yosemite and I rode with Clay in his beautiful and fast Dodge which has tinted windows. And because the window tint was not factory installed Clay wasn't allowed to drive it into the park. Clay was mad, jumped into the car and took off fast. Me, being a "Savior" ran after him, he stopped and I jumped in beside him. He took off fast as I tried talking him down and to pull over. He did pull over, almost too far over, very close to the canyon's edge and it was a deep canyon. We could've died that day but after a few words and catching my breath Clay turned the car around, parked it at the Park gate and the two of us road into the park with friends. All in all we had a wonderful day, a memorable day.

Arivett family, my heart goes out to you, not knowing exactly how you feel but having experienced loss of loved ones myself.
Clay and I attended West Coast Christian together in our late teen years, we were good friends.
He was fun in his tempestuous ways, seemingly always smiling, finding fun in everything.

I was blessed to know him only a year or two as you have been blessed to have known him for a long time and so very personally.

My only contact with him the past 40+ years was one on facebook when he told me he was ministering and I asked him to be specific and he simply said, "to my family". That stuck with me because ministry to family is the honorable thing for a husband and father to do.

May our Lord Jesus bless, comfort and heal you as you walk the path without his physical presence.

I love and miss dad very much! He was a kind, loving, gentle man and impacted my life forever. His sense of humor was unparalleled and he always had such a good work and life ethic. He was always up for an adventure! I can't wait to see him again in heaven one day.

Clay - you will be missed. You were loved and respected by all that knew you. It is your faith and the faith you bestowed on your family that will shine through. Clay was always there whenever anyone needed some counseling. He married and buried many of our family. His marriage ceremonies were always thoughtful and personal; his funeral eulogies were special because he put his heart in them. I have never known anyone that was kinder or more humble. RIP brother.
