Cody Walker Obituary

CODY DERRICK WALKER OCTOBER 13, 1985 - AUGUST 27, 2018 Cody Derrick Walker was born on October 13, 1985 at Mad River Hospital in Arcata to Danny H. Walker and Terri Lee Rossiter. Cody was a clever and affable young man, with a knack for all things tech. It is with heavy hearts that his family is announcing that he passed away on August 27, 2018. He was taken too soon, at the young age of 32. Cody grew up on Zelia Court in Arcata, where he met many of his cherished lifelong friends. He attended Pacific Union School and Arcata High School, excelling in Computer and English classes. Some may remember him from his iconic bleached spiky hair and brightly-colored dragon shirts from that time. After high school, he held various part-time jobs, including at the Shell Gas station and at Sherwin Williams Paint Store in Eureka. He was especially proud to work at Domino's Pizza in Eureka, where he cashiered and produced pizzas for customers in the community with a smile. He will always be remembered as being very kind, often the first to offer to help a friend out with a ride to an appointment. He was also a good cook, and he enjoyed whipping up food for housemates. He was loved very much by his family and those around him, and spent a good deal of time bonding with his parents in recent years. Cody loved rebuilding computers and playing video games, both online and amongst friends in game rooms in Arcata. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, playing disc golf in the redwoods, going for walks on the beach and exploring the nooks and crannies of Humboldt. Growing up, he especially loved spending time with his Grandpa Rossiter in Oregon, hunting for arrowheads and shining gems. Cody is survived by his mother Terri, father Danny, and sister Cassandra Walker. He is also survived by his grandmother Patsy Ruth Walker and his aunts and uncles; Cheryl and Andy DuMond, Michelle Walker, and Greg and Warren Rossiter. He is preceded in death by his Grandfather Stanley Rossiter, his Grandmother Carole (Bailey) Rossiter and Grandfather Harold H. Walker. There will be a viewing from 11am-2pm at Sanders Funeral Home if you would like to say a personal goodbye to Cody and a celebration of life will be held for him thereafter at 2pm at Sanders, located on 1835 E Street in Eureka. The family suggests sending memorial contributions to organizations providing counseling services and safe and sober houses. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com
