Colleen McCullough Obituary

Colleen McCullough

On Wednesday, May 26, 2021 Colleen Grace McCullough known to her Grandmother as "Jewel" went home on her Father's birthday to be with her Lord and Savior.
Colleen was born in Hoopa Ca. on April 22, 1940 to Everett and Delphine Fountain. She grew up on the Fountain Ranch in Salyer. Her mother contracted tuberculosis along with herself and two brothers. Her baby brother, Bryce, succumbed to the disease. They moved to the Auberry area for treatment at a sanitorium. Colleen and her brother recovered but for the next 8 years her mother remained at the sanitorium. During this time, she was raised by her Father and Grandmother, Georgia Johnson. Then the whole family returned to the Ranch when she was 12. Colleen became an accomplished young woman. She rode, could hit and catch any ball, played the piano, sang, and was an excellent cook and seamstress.
In 1958 she married Mack McCullough and they raised two sons, Macky and Troy and two daughters Nicole' and Penny. She served her family with true devotion and they were her number one priority in life. Home making, entertaining, cooking, and her yard beamed with excellence and demonstrated her work ethic. There was nothing she could not do. Her home was filled with family, friends, and lifetime memories. Colleen served her community at the Willow Creek Bible Church for over 25 years, faithfully teaching Sunday school and directing Choir. Then for the last 30 years she taught adult Sunday school and played the piano at the Willow Creek Assembly of God Church. She played until she could physically play no more.
Colleen returned to school at age 50, graduating in 4 years with a Bachelor of Arts and teaching credentials from HSU. She had a passion and gift for education and teaching. She taught kindergarten through college age students at the KTUSD district and the CR campus in Hoopa. Colleen was a builder, from conception to completion. She dreamed and accomplished many projects. A few of her many accomplishments were rebuilding the Willow Creek Assembly of God Church and building her house on the Ranch. She was a crucial component in building the present CR campus in Hoopa and the Tribal CCC site and programs. Everything she did she gave her all.
A special thanks from the family would like to be given to her granddaughter, Abigail Smith and Emily Junkin for giving Colleen excellent care in her last years. Colleen believed that the greatest legacy she could leave to her family was to teach them to know God, and to not just know about Him but to have a personal relationship with Him.

To the Families
In loving memory of a wonderful person that we will miss dearly. Colleen ❤ you we're a bit old fashioned sprinkled with professionalism & charm! Your family endured the outbreak of TB where my mother said people showed up at school began taking friends/students away & many times, did not see those students again.... and then currently, Covid-19.. I treasured our talks & I loved how she always smiled with her heart. A wonderful inspiration. I'm so very happy to have enjoyed her friendship for 42 years. Our mom's are now at peace and I have no question about it, they are rejoicing, singing songs of praise in Heaven & will enjoy Everlasting life for Eternity Blessings, hugs and Prayers for the family.
