David Hutzell Obituary

David Earl Hutzell David Earl Hutzell was born July 13th 1944 in Columbus Ohio. He passed away peacefully on January 6th 2014 with his daughter by his side. He graduated from Eureka Senior High in 1962. He retired from the City of Eureka in 1998, where he was a 911 dispatcher. He loved that job because he could work nights and spend the days with his daughter, and attend all of her events. He had a passion for cars. Known as a Wheeler n Dealer, always buying old cars and fixing them up. He loved spending summers at Trinity Lake with family and friends. Harley Davidsons were a big part of his life, you could often find him tinkering on one in his garage. He is preceded in death by his mother Aileen Hoover and his step-father Bill Hoover. He is survived by his daughter Torun Tomlinson and granddaughter Marayah Tomlinson both of Eureka and Torun's mother Darlette Pape of Weaverville. There will be no services per David's request. He will be dearly missed. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com and click on obits.

Not sure what to say?

January 25, 2014

we were saddened by the loss of your dad and our cousin. One time while camping at Trinity Lake with my sister-in-law,Gwen, he just showed up with his boat. We had seven young boys between us and he towed them on the tube. They will never forget the experience. Toran, you were a lucky girl to have had a dad like that. Love Joe and Linda Williams

We were saddened by the loss of your dad.
We didn't see him as often as we would have liked. He was always doing good things. One time when I and my sister-in-law took our little boys camping at Trinity, he just showed up in his boat and the kids were so happy about that. He towed them around on the tube. Such great times. Toran, you were so lucky to have a dad like David. Love Joe and Linda

Torun, so sorry to hear, I always enjoyed talking with your dad about hidden treasures ( cars ) he would come across. It was great having you all as neighbors for all those years on Stephanie court.
He will be deeply missed.
Rest in peace Dave...

I worked with Dave for many years at the City of Eureka. He entertained us with many stories and went out of his way to help his co-workers. I remember when I wrecked my car, he contacted all his "car sales" buddies and found me a new car, fast and just what I wanted. He also put my son's bicycle together on Christmas Eve because "Santa" was not mechanically inclined.

Torun - Dave was so proud of you. He bragged about you all the time.

My deepest sympathy.

Torun and Marayah-

The loss of a father/grandfather is never easy. A part of your heart goes with them.
May all the good memories he gave you, and the care you gave him, fill that void.

Take care.

Torun, my heart aches for you over the loss of your father. You were clearly his pride and joy, and he wanted nothing more than for his beautiful daughter to be happy and confident. While you are grieving that he is no longer with you physically, know that his spirit will be with you always. You, Marayah and Jake are in my prayers. Love you all.

Dave was a great neighbor. I remember him helping me build a fence in my front yard on Stephanie Ct. My sympathy goes out to his family.

I am so sorry to hear that David is no longer with us. We had some great times with him when we were in high school. Like waiting for you mom to climb out her bedroom window at night so we could go cruise Eureka, the trips to Redding, the parties, the good times with the Cooper brothers and several others. Your dad was a good friend and somewhat looked after the rest of us when we were about to make a bad decision. I am sure he will be missed and not forgotten. God bless you and may David rest in peace.
