Dennis Albert Morgan

Dennis Albert Morgan June 21, 1941 February 24, 2013 After a long battle with cancer, Dennis passed away peacefully in the night with his family near his side. Dennis lived his entire life in Humboldt County. Born in Fortuna, Dennis spent his early years in Rio Dell, with his father Tom, the local barber, and his mother Annie (Rovai). During this time, he acquired strong family ties to the local community. He moved to Arcata for his adolescent and high school years, and played baseball and basketball at Arcata High School. Baseball was his true passion, and he would later share that love with the local youth, coaching Little League and Babe Ruth teams for several years. Dennis was also an avid sportsman; enjoying hunting, fishing, clamming, metal detecting, and almost anything outdoors that the North Coast had to offer. When the salmon and steelhead were running, he could be found with his fishing buddies Dewey, Jim and Art down at Don's Doughnut Bar sharing "fish stories". His hunting days went back to childhood with his dad, and included plenty of stories that were told with much joy and laughter and were shared often with his sons. He was very proud of his roots and his community. He married the love of his life, Rose Ann Pialorsi in 1963, and shared a life with her until her passing in 2009. He is survived by their three children Doren, Denina and Dennis. He was a proud father and a devoted husband, with the highest of integrity, always preaching to his kids "to do the right thing". Dennis is also survived by his grandsons, Ryan Morgan and Antonio Fredrickson, and his mother-in-law, Elsie Pialorsi. He and his father ran a barbershop on the Arcata Plaza for many years. Afterwards, he spent over 30 years as a Realtor. Nearly every summer and fall weekend of his adulthood was spent in Willow Creek with family and friends, gardening, barbequing and enjoying the mountain air. He especially liked to be in charge of the BBQ with a glass of wine in his hand, trying to coordinate the meal with his wife Rose Ann. There will be a private graveside service.
