Passed away on 18th October, 2006, in Phoenix, Arizona, after a 20 year courageously fought battle with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 70.
Ed was born 14th November, 1935, in Glendale, CA. He attended school in Glendale and graduated in 1953. Ed also earned a BS degree from Pepperdine University. He drove a taxicab until entering the US Army. Ed joined the LA Sheriff Dept and worked there until he was called to the California Highway Patrol in July of 1962 - in his eyes - his dream job. During his 26 year career Ed was stationed in East LA, San Bernardino, Baldwin Park, Westminster and Eureka - where he retired as a Sargent in 1989.
Ed was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1987 - but that never stopped him - he was a true fighter - and continued to ride his bike everywhere and to always be on the go - he never gave in. He rode the Tour of the Unknown Coast and competed in the Clam Beach run for many years.
Ed is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diana; son, Victor of Reno; son, Colin, wife Lisa and grandsons Jake and Jared of Arizona; brother, Ken of Glendale, CA; and sister, Elaine of New Mexico.
At Ed’s request there will be no services. Ed ‘s remains have been willed to science in the hope that others maybe helped in learning more about Parkinson’s disease, Lewy body disease and Picks disease.
Ed put up a gallant fight - now its time to rest and be at peace.
