George Cherry Obituary

George Allen Cherry, Sr.

George Allen Cherry, Sr., born in Los Angeles November 8,1912, passed away November 22nd in Ukiah, CA.

Mr. Cherry grew up in Fresno, CA, where he was the first Student Body President of Roosevelt High School and graduated from Fresno State. He was a retired School Administrator, having been Principal of Bret Hart Junior High and Castlemont High School in Oakland, CA., where he had lived most of his adult life. He also retired from the Naval Reserve after 30 years and achieving the rank of Captain. He served active duty in both World War II and the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ida W. Cherry; sons, George Allen Cherry, Jr. and wife Lorie of Ukiah, CA, Thomas Clive Cherry and wife Karen of Niceville, FL; grandchildren, Guy Allen Cherry and wife Karrie of Castro Valley, CA, Glen Thomas Cherry and partner Christina of Vacaville, CA, Andrea McElwee Cherry of San Diego, CA, and Lorenzo Alonzo Pacini-Cherry of Ukiah, CA; and two great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at Ukiah Cemetery, Friday November 26th
